Lamar CISD is proud to join communities across Texas in celebrating January 2026 as School Board Recognition Month. This annual observance honors the dedicated service of school board members who play a vital role in shaping the future of education.

This year’s theme, Our Future Is Public,” highlights the importance of strong public schools and the leadership of elected trustees who work year-round to support student success, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement.

“Strong public schools begin with thoughtful, student-centered leadership,” Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said. “Our Board of Trustees is deeply committed to making informed decisions that prioritize students, strengthen instructional excellence, and reflect the values of our growing community.”

The Lamar CISD Board of Trustees works in partnership with district leadership, educators, families, and community members to set a clear vision for the Lamar CISD. Through policy development, budget oversight, and long-term planning, trustees help ensure that Lamar CISD campuses have the resources and support needed to help students thrive.

“Our trustees serve as advocates for public education and champions for opportunity,” Dr. Nivens added. “Their leadership helps ensure that every decision aligns with what is best for students, today and in the future.
